Resume Template Free Download – Teal Heading Right Aligned + Social Icons

teal resume templatePurpose of the résumé template

Why do you need a résumé template? Unless you just love designing résumés and you have a lot of extra time on your hands when you’re searching for  job, you can use it as a starting point. If you like the overall design of this one, you can download this résumé template (it’s free!) and customize it for your own experience and preferences.

Customize the social media icons and handles

There are many ways to create, customize, organize, and publish your résumé. One modern approach incorporates social media handles (or contact info) as another way to help hiring managers connect with you. Granted, sharing social contact information also inevitably means they may check up on you…so make sure your social profiles show you on your best behavior!

This particular résumé template does include a space for the social media accounts, but it’s less prominent by being in the footer (and you can change the colors of the icons easily). It’s a good approach if you’re fine with potential employers taking a look at your social profiles, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or even a visual resume on a site such as visualize.me.

Stick to a traditional resume approach

Other than including the social media details, the design stays pretty simple. There’s a slight modification at the top. The personal contact information is aligned to the right instead of the left or center. The fonts are teal and dark green/gray in downloadable template, but you can change them to any color you like. Stick to something that isn’t too flashy. Also think about what colors traditionally represent (e.g., red is sometimes associated with anger, and you wouldn’t want that associated with your résumé).

Lead into each job with a summary statement

You also have many options for how to lay out your work experience. In this one, I’ve added a spot to share a 1-3 sentence summary of the selling points about each role. It’s kind of like the professional summary area rapped into each job experience. Use this to clearly show the “executive summary.” This persuasive overall statement points out what you can offer because of the accomplishments and experiences you attained in each job role.

Tailor the objectives to the company’s goals

This template has the traditional objectives statement area. If you’re going to use objectives, make sure you still focus on what you can do for the company based on what they say they want in the job ad. Don’t make the mistake of getting too locked into what you want for yourself out of the opportunity. Remember that it’s about how you’ll contribute to the profit margin, reduce overhead costs for equipment, hire world-class team members, or help the company continue its 5-year streak of the best-in-industry customer service ratings.
